World's Cutest Farmer!

Image
I had to share this because its adorableness was almost too much for me. hehehe He may not let me cook it. I can't get him to let go of it for five seconds. I'm pretty excited too. I must say. hehe These Pumpkins are determined to make it all the way to Canada by fall. ;-) I may have planted a littttttttle too much in this garden... Nicky watering the watermelons and corn. Our squash pre-harvest. Baby pepper with a cucumber plant right next to it. I didn't realize quite how big cucumbers got, when I planted it in the MIDDLE of the garden... I'm trying to rain it up a trellis... Allllmost ready crookneck squash. I can't believe people don't grow Eggplant just for these precious little blooms!!! They look like little fairy skirts! There's a brief tour of our garden. :-D Hope you enjoyed.

From Front Porch to Actually in the Ground Garden

Image
Okay, so most of my plants were starting to get mad about being contained on the front porch. So I made them their own little raised garden. I'm going to do the whole square foot gardening thing next year probably, but I didn't do a grid or anything this year. So now I think I need to go buy some more plants. Since I didn't take up all the room in the garden you know. ;) Some of the plants are still on the front porch. And the Zucchini is still doing SMASHINGLY in the Topsy Turvy. I love this thing! Remember that this poor little Zucchini was almost dead when I put it in here. Here is the only one of my peppers that is actually making peppers... I planted three. Two made blooms and one just dropped the blooms and didn't bother with fruit. I'm not sure what the problem with the other one is. It hasn't even tried. And here is the CUUUUTE little baby pepper it's making! So there is our little garden. :-D Edit: I couldn't resist! I went and bought a ...

The Topsy Turvy

Okay, I'm sure you've seen the infomercials for these things. GROW YOUR TOMATOES UPSIDE DOWN!!! Well I was impressed (as I usually am by infomercials) and while I wasn't impressed enough to buy them from the infomercial I was impressed enough that when I saw them at walmart I had to pick one up. I had gotten a tomato the week before, and I figured I'd transplant it from the pot I had to the topsy turvy thing. Then I got to thinking...I really hate tomatoes. So I wouldn't actually be eating any of my hard earned food. So when I saw the ad again and noticed they said you could also grow zucchinis in it, I decided to get a yummy delicious zuchinni plant instead. Unfortunatly allt he zuchinni plants looked kinda pathetic, but I bought a little droopy one anyway. Well then I got distracted and didn't plant it for a few days...or water it... Yeah remember, I'm the plant-i-nator. So by the time I actually got it planted in the topsy turvey two of its four lea...

Nicky's Front Porch Garden

Image
Well as you know, I'm well known for my planticide, but apparently my little guy has a green thumb that somehow counteracts my black one. Hmmm I just noticed there is an orb in this picture. You know the ones they are always saying are ghosts? Upper right in front of the fence post. Maybe someone sent my poor plants a guardian angel... So here are Nicky's watermelons. His pumpkins. These are going to already have to be transplanted soon. I wonder where I should put them where they might not die... hmmmmmm.... My cute little sage sprouts. Thyme and one tinnnnnnny sprout of rosemary. The basil I almost killed....it apparently didn't like the first planter I had it in, because it was way too moist. So i pulled it out to just it's peat pots and I'm going to replant it again. The tomato plant that I'm going to transplant to the topsy turvy I bought. Yes, it's that thing that grows your tomatos upside down. hehehe I know I'm a sucker for infomercials. ...

Gardening, Weeding, and Planting! Oh my!

My mother-in-law arrived today at 11:30am...mind you, she was supposed to get here yesterday at 6pm... Her flight from Newark got canceled due to a nasty storm. They sent her to Houston where she arrived at 3am and then got on a flight this morning that was delayed 40 minutes to Bentonville. But she's here! And can I reiterate why I'm not going to be flying anywhere until the boys are like at least 6! Flying isn't that big a deal if everything goes smoothly, but it doesn't always go smoothly... See here for proof! But anyway, she's here. :D So I took advantage of the fact that she was playing with Finn and chatting (in Spanish...seems like they always revert to spanish when they chat...*Lesley doesn't speak Spanish...Danish sure. Spanish nada*) So I took advantage of this fact to get done some of the stuff that has gone neglected due to the fact that my little munchkins are very time consuming, especially Finn. I trimmed the roses that didn't die ou...
