Yes, I'm a Negligent Blogger

Image
But at least I have a very good excuse. See the ticker on the right side of the screen under works in progress? Yup, that's right. If I'm not throwing up I'm taking a nap, preforming my day job, rearing my other two children, or working on a rewrite of Click Yes to Submit. So that's why I haven't been blogging like I should be. Or keeping up with others' blogs. Sorry! I've also started working on Christmas presents. I found the perfect thing to make my Mommy and I've started it. I also have a list of fantastic ideas for some other people. I really enjoy crocheting. It's very soothing. I've made 5 Cthulus and I think I'm going to make one more in neon pink for me to keep at the office. I'm also contemplating little amigurumi super heroines for myself and my bestie. Mine will be WORD GIRL! Able to Google the answers to Microsoft Word Problems quickly and easily!

Warnings on Movies and Games Okay, so you know how there are warnings about sex, violence, and strong language on video games and movies and stuff? Well I understand the need, really I do. And I'm glad they exist so that I can keep my children from watching or playing things that have these kinds of warnings. However, may I just make a request? I'm extremely emotionally sensitive. Sex, Violence (unless it involves the death of a main character or child), and strong language don't even phase me in fiction. On the other hand, heart wrenchingly sad endings do. I can't stand them. I don't want to watch it, read it, play it. I hate it! Cried for like an hour after City of Angels. Don't even get me STARTED about The Mist! Can we please have warnings about emotionally horrific endings? Thanks. I'd appreciate it. Chemistry Sets Did you have a chemistry set when you were a kid? I didn't. I wanted one. My big brother got one that was like the mos...

Was this intended to be shocking?

Managing Mommy Rage I stumbled across this on someone's page, and I just had to comment on it. Surely to goodness this woman isn't being serious?! Does anyone really believe that they have the right to be queen of the world because they have a child. I don't argue that people should be polite. If someone is trying to get in a store with a stroller, two older kids, and all the necessary equipment that goes with that, then for heaven's sake if you've got a free hand do open the door. But then I'm a serial door opener. Even carrying a baby and holding a small child's hand if there is someone behind me I'm going to keep the door open for them until it's at least in their hand. Letting it slam shut in their face is just rude. Also not saying thank you is rude if someone does hold a door open for you. And don't even get me started on people who don't wave when you let them in to traffic. How much effort does it take to wave? That person t...

I did it!

Thanks everyone for your input! I really appreciate the help! I went with number 3 without bangs. I chickened out on the bangs at the last moment. hehe I went for the one that looks good without a lot of styling cause I'm super lazy where my hair is concerned. :-D I did get a flat iron so I could flip it up at the ends. It's going to take some getting used to. That and putting product in my hair! Eek! Product! I'm so not used to it!

Okay, right now my hair is about down to my waist, and I'm getting a little sick and tired of it. Especially since my son is totally infatuated with pulling it. So not cool. So I am contemplating getting it all cut off and donating it to one of the following charities: Locks of Love Children with Hairloss It still remains to be seen if I will be brave enough to do it. ;) But in the meantime I've been playing with different hairstyles on InStyle's Makeover thing, which is BTW super fun! If you want to waste a few hours of your day take a pic and go there. You won't regret it. :-D So here are the hairstyle's I'm looking at. And I may do sort of a progression of all of them actually. Really the first two and second two are variations of the same style anyway. Try to disregard the hair sticking out of the bottom in the very short hairstyles I didn't get my hair completely up in a bun when I took the picture. So what do y'all think?

Weigh In Wednesday

Weight: 231 Loss: 3 Total Loss: 41 Yayyyy! I'm back to where I was before summer. How did she lose 3 pounds in one week you say? With no special diet or exercise? I'll tell you! Thanks to the handy dandy stomach flu! You can do it too! But I don't recommend it! Felt like I was gonna die! And we ALL had it! Nicky got sick Thursday. Finn and I got sick Saturday and Bryon got sick Sunday! Have I mentioned how completely through I am with everyone being sick??? Cause really it's getting old! I didn't run Monday, but finished about half of my run yesterday before Nicky pushed Finn and he landed on the Busy Ball Popper leaving a big mark on his poor forehead. He looks like Voldemort attacked him! Poor little guy! I almost finished all the painting in my bathroom. There are a few things that need to be touched up still. And I've GOT to finish making the fondant for Nicky's Castle cake for his party. Hell it's already Wednesday. I probably need to star...

Just Call Me Plumber Lesley :-D

Okay, we had a very slow leak in our bathroom behind the faucet. I kept accusing my husband of just splashing the wall when he showered, but when the dry wall started getting damaged and started to mold I had to admit that in fact there was something wrong... So out of sheer fear of the cost of a plumber we decided to give it a shot ourselves. First I did some research on how to cut through dry wall. Then I did some research on how faucets are made. Then I went in to check what kind of attachment our faucet had and when I was checking the faucet basically fell off in my hand. So upon further investigation it was made obvious that the solder had gone bad. Actually it had probably just been badly soldered from the beginning at that joint. So then I was like OH CRAP! This is a copper pipe and when I started looking at copper pip installation it became obvious that you have to solder to fix a joint on a copper pipe. Well here's the thing... In order to solder I'd have to co...

Soccer Mom in the House

I am now officially a soccer mom. Yes, I have the minivan and everything. ;) Nicky had his very first soccer practice today. He did a great job. He did get a liiittttle distracted there at the end, and he didn't quite understand that he was allowed to kick someone else's ball when they started playing a little match. I mean, after all, we'd told him repeatedly to only kick his ball and not other people's. We'll have to work on that. hehe On other notes, I planted a red delicious apple tree in the field today, where another tree had been that died. We'll see how well it does. I hope it doesn't take too many years before it gives me some nummy apples. The field project is coming along. I would say we've got about 1/3 of it useable now. I filled in some holes today. There are a few stones that really need to be removed so I don't have to mow around them, but they are so huge that I think it might require a backhoe to get them out of there. ...

OMG! It's a curse!

Okay, so while we were gone on vacation the beach house we were in's air conditioner stopped running. Now that by itself wasn't so odd. I mean those air conditioners do not last well in the salt air and humidity. It only became odd when I got home and turned my air conditioner down from where I had it set while we were gone and waited for it to kick on and start cooling. Well it blew, but it didn't cool off. So I went outside and the compressor wasn't kicking on. Hmmm....I just bought the thing! So I called the great guy who installed it, and he couldn't be here until tuesday because he was out of town monday. Good thing it was cool! But he was out here first thing this morning, and he found something unlike anything he's ever seen before! A spider had apparently built its nest in the place where the electricity kicks on. (I dunno what this is called. Connection or whatever. I'm no electrician. hehe ) Well when the power tried to connect it fried t...

Yes, Size REALLY does matter!

Image
Okay, if you follow me on twitter, then you've heard my lamenting of over air conditioning woes. In fact, I whined about it on here , about 3 weeks ago. It was a long, irritating, expensive process!!! But now we have our air conditioner!!! No, that's not it. That's the lame little unit we had. We added onto our house a couple of years ago. When we bought it, it was a whopping 900 square feet. Now it's almost 1400. So you can imagine that our air conditioner which was bought 14 years ago for the 900 square foot house just wasn't cutting it anymore, even before it broke down. Some of the lovely features of this old unit were the rust covered top and the messed up metal thingies on the side. I know. I know! How could I ever part with it!? It was difficult. Let me tell you! So now we have this... Isn't it just the sexiest piece of HVAC equipment that you have ever seen??? I know you're all so jealous! ;) I mean look at the size of that beast!!! No r...

If I seem grumpy...

...it's because I've had a craptastic week! Sunday, we came home from my parents. We had a great time with them, but it's a four hour drive, and I've discovered Finn is none too fond of riding in the back where he can't see me on long trips. He screamed most of the way down there, and only didn't scream on the way back because I got on the floor in the back wedged between the seats and the dog crate (I removed the very back seats to fit the dog crate in) letting him play with my hair - it's a dang good thing my hair is like waist long or that wouldn't have worked at all - and talking to and tickling him. So after four hours of that, I was ready to come home relax maybe start some laundry and have a good afternoon of nothing but relaxation. Well, when we got home it was 90 degrees in the house and turning on the air conditioner full blast didn't bring it down a single degree! Okay, I'm exaggerating! It wasn't really 90 in the house. It w...

Okay...This is Weird

Alright...so I was a bit on the bored side, and I like playing games with google. So I was typing in some of my characters names to google to see what happens. Markus Canamore is one of my heroes, but his name used to be Markus Patrick until I decided to change it. I typed that into google and the third thing down... Markus Patrick Luebke Jr's Facebook page. Okay not all that weird, until you know that my maiden name is Luebke. Now I don't know this person. I would have to assume we are at least very distantly related as Luebke is not at all a common name. I'm tempted to add him as a friend, but that would be a long explanation of why I found his name and I don't want the poor guy to think I'm stalking him or anything. LMAO So okay that's my weird moment of the day. :-D

Adventures in Closet Spelunking

I've been working my booty off. As many of the women with life long weight problems, I have LOTS of clothes in lots of sizes. Things that I just can't throw out because I like them so much and have hopes of someday fitting into them again. So since I've lost 24 pounds, I figured it was time to go through the clothes to see what fits and what doesn't. So I took EVERYTHING out of my closet and tried it all on, and I took everything out of storage that didn't fit before and tried it all on too. I managed to sort 3 big bags of stuff to donate and found a bunch of clothes that fit again. Yay! So now I have all my clothes that fit hanging on the shower rail in the bathroom all organized and nice. Now if only I had some sense of style. What I need is someone with some skills to come in and tell me what looks nice together. I also still need to go through my lounge clothes and workout clothes. Cause I know there is some really old stuff in there that is so worn out th...

Why do you eat?

I've been working on this for more than a week, and I'm still not sure I've got it right, but I'm just going to publish it and be done with it. Okay, well there is the obvious answer to this question. Because you're hungry. Or is it just because you think you're hungry? Or maybe you're not even hungry, something just compels you to pick up that brownie. I've been overweight for most of my life. There were a few brief periods where I was thinner, but for the most part, I've always had a weight problem. I don't know why I ate the way I did when I was young. It was probably similar to the reasons I've discovered for my eating in my adult life. I was reading The Crazy Woman Inside Me the other day, and got to thinking about the reasons that I eat. I'm a binge eater. I always have been. However, years ago I got it mostly under control. At least in that I don't often eat to the point of making myself physically ill anymore. So fo...

These kids are amazing!

And their music teacher has to be the coolest teacher ever!

Gardening, Weeding, and Planting! Oh my!

My mother-in-law arrived today at 11:30am...mind you, she was supposed to get here yesterday at 6pm... Her flight from Newark got canceled due to a nasty storm. They sent her to Houston where she arrived at 3am and then got on a flight this morning that was delayed 40 minutes to Bentonville. But she's here! And can I reiterate why I'm not going to be flying anywhere until the boys are like at least 6! Flying isn't that big a deal if everything goes smoothly, but it doesn't always go smoothly... See here for proof! But anyway, she's here. :D So I took advantage of the fact that she was playing with Finn and chatting (in Spanish...seems like they always revert to spanish when they chat...*Lesley doesn't speak Spanish...Danish sure. Spanish nada*) So I took advantage of this fact to get done some of the stuff that has gone neglected due to the fact that my little munchkins are very time consuming, especially Finn. I trimmed the roses that didn't die ou...

House Guest INC

My mother in law is coming in from Denmark to visit so I'll probably not have much time to blog or surf blogs, much less write. I need to finish cleaning up the house and do some shopping before we go pick her up from the airport. She's too dang good a cook! I absolutely refuse to gain back any of the 22 pounds I've lost. I will be strong! Too much to do must go clean!

And we thought living up to fashion models was impossible before...

Now they're not even human! So Barbie can be walking down a runway near you at any moment!

It's 4 O'clock in the morning...

Do you know where your children are? Well mine is watching Wow Wow Wubsy right next to me, because he seems to think sleep is the devil. I may remind him of this one day when he whines to me about how tired he is cause his baby kept him up all night. Running (Slow Fat Jogging) Update! Okay, I'm up to 4.3 mph for 30 minutes. Go me! My hips and legs are slimming down nicely. The same, however, cannot be said about my waist! *shakes fist* I'm starting to get shin splints though and my knee is a wee bit sore. Lishy said to stretch my calves more after running. We'll see if that helps *fingers crossed* Wow I just had a total flashback to Dr. Horrible. Must go watch that again! Yay looks like he finally went back to sleep! Only 1.5 hours of anti-nap in the middle of the night. I guess I should be grateful it wasn't more! Oh yeah! And look, look, look at my WIP Status!!!!!! I'm actally getting some writing done again! Yay!
