Was this intended to be shocking?

Managing Mommy Rage I stumbled across this on someone's page, and I just had to comment on it. Surely to goodness this woman isn't being serious?! Does anyone really believe that they have the right to be queen of the world because they have a child. I don't argue that people should be polite. If someone is trying to get in a store with a stroller, two older kids, and all the necessary equipment that goes with that, then for heaven's sake if you've got a free hand do open the door. But then I'm a serial door opener. Even carrying a baby and holding a small child's hand if there is someone behind me I'm going to keep the door open for them until it's at least in their hand. Letting it slam shut in their face is just rude. Also not saying thank you is rude if someone does hold a door open for you. And don't even get me started on people who don't wave when you let them in to traffic. How much effort does it take to wave? That person t...

A post in which I whine...A LOT

We're all sick again. Head cold that moves into the chest thing. I've been hacking up a lung for 2 days and before that for a couple of days my head was so stopped up I was completely off balance. Finn has been sniffly since like tuesday of last week, but he started coughing and wheezing yesterday so to avoid an emergency room visit I took him to the late hours at the pediatric clinic. Good thing too because we were definitely headed for another emergency room visit if I hadn't. He is now on steroids, antibiotics, and an albuterol inhaler. So I've been having to hold him down with a mask over his face every four to six hours to breath in his meds. That's almost as fun as holding the new kitten by the scruff of the neck to put meds down his throat and drops in his eyes. Did I mention that he was sick too? Oh yes, nd eye infection likely caused by a kitty virus. Great way to welcome him into our home. He at least doesn't bite and scratch me like Aine wo...

Suri in Heels

Okay, so there have been lots of pictures surfacing of Suri Cruise wearing high heels . Look, if you've got a problem with this, then you've obviously never been or raised a fru fru 3 year old girl. They probably got these as part of a costume, since Halloween is just around the corner, and she wouldn't wear anything else. I don't know if you've ever had a 3 year old, but they can be VERY insistent when they want their way. And seriously people, you've got to pick your battles. She might have wanted to wear the whole flapper Halloween outfit out, and they compromised on the shoes. It's not like she was indecent! I remember once I made a "skirt" on my sewing machine when I was a little girl. It consisted of a piece of stretchy fabric that was sewn on one side to make something akin to a mini skirt, but ummmm let's just say it wouldn't have been appropriate to wear in public. So my mother obviously didn't let me leave the house in i...

Weigh In Wednesday

Image
Weight: 237 Loss: 0 (I can explain!!!) Total loss: 35 You see it was my birthday, and there was pizza and German chocolate cake involved. Mmmmmmm It was good! I also didn't run yesterday because I was moving all the furniture in my living room into my bedroom and all the furniture in my bedroom into my living room. Sounds weird I know, but it totally works! Which is definitely more than it's share of exercise all on it's own! My muscles are sure sore! I'm going to use this week to redo my motivation collage. The old one is somewhat out of date as it included such things as "Buying cute clothes in regular stores" and "Getting a full body family portrait on the beach" Check and check! For the most part, I don't need to shop in plus sized at all anymore, and I just love our family portrait on the beach! So I'll work on my new motivators this week and make a collage. I'm also going to redo my weight prize awards sheet and repost all th...

Wow, Nicky better have been glad I was doubled over in pain!

Okay, so Nicky and Finn have both been EXCEPTIONALLY whiny and grouchy today. Finn is teething so maybe I can forgive it, but I don't know what Nicky's problem is. I think they miss their Gramma and Grampa and the beach. Anyway... We took Nicky to Game Exchange to buy him a new game for the old Gameboy I gave him. So he was STILL whining as I was getting him out of his car seat to take him into the store. So I said to him, "OMG STOP WHINING or I'm not going to get you a game!!!" So we started toward the store and I stepped wrong and turned my ankle so that it made this awful popping sound and it hurt so bad that I screamed. Like screamed. Now I'm pretty good with pain. I don't usually scream when I'm in pain. You know except when I'm in pitocin induced labor with no meds, but this was ungodly!!! So I'm doubled over trying not to fall, and Bryon is asking me what happened, because since I didn't actually fall down it just looked like...

To J**** at Aldi

Look, Dude! I don't know what your problem is, but if you glare at me again because I don't want to move my 3 year old, 1 year old, and bags to a different cart, then I may have to talk to your manager! Seriously! This is the third time you've done it! I always get my stuff on the stand before the person in front of me is done checking out, so it's not like you have to wait for me to finish unloading before you can start checking me out! Today there wasn't even anyone in line behind me!!! But you looked at me like I was wasting your time, because you had to use a whole half a second to move the cart out of the way that was already there so I could park mine where it was. For the love of all that is good and holy! I'm so sorry I wasted that half second of your day!!! Do you know how difficult it is to load and unload small children from shopping carts!?!?! This is not some grand scheme to run off with two carts so I can steal a quarter from you or Aldi or w...

If I seem grumpy...

...it's because I've had a craptastic week! Sunday, we came home from my parents. We had a great time with them, but it's a four hour drive, and I've discovered Finn is none too fond of riding in the back where he can't see me on long trips. He screamed most of the way down there, and only didn't scream on the way back because I got on the floor in the back wedged between the seats and the dog crate (I removed the very back seats to fit the dog crate in) letting him play with my hair - it's a dang good thing my hair is like waist long or that wouldn't have worked at all - and talking to and tickling him. So after four hours of that, I was ready to come home relax maybe start some laundry and have a good afternoon of nothing but relaxation. Well, when we got home it was 90 degrees in the house and turning on the air conditioner full blast didn't bring it down a single degree! Okay, I'm exaggerating! It wasn't really 90 in the house. It w...

Screwing with the Car Warranty People

*Phone rings, and it's the obnoxious "WARNING your car warranty is about to expire..." so hubby presses one and waits* Telemarketer: Hello this is **** from the *****. Hubby: Hello, son. This is Father John. Telemarketer: Hello, sir. I would like to... Hubby: Do you guys only insure cars, because I've got a church van I'd like to insure? Telemarketer: Yes, sir, but I would like to... Hubby: Are you a Christian? Telemarketer: Yes, sir, but I would like to... Hubby: I have to know if you have let Jesus into your life. Telemarketer: Yes, I have. Hubby: I have to be sure. So you're telling me that you know Jesus? Telemarketer: Yes, sir, I do. Hubby: Do you pray? Telemarketer: Yes, sir, but back to the warranty... Hubby: As a Christan, how many times a day do you pray? Telemarkter: *getting angry* I pray 17 times a day! Hubby: And you call yourself a Christian, son? A good Christian should pray no less than 20 times a day! Telemarketer: Nevermind...*click*

Join my campaign...

...to screw with the morons who call repeatedly asking if you want to extend your warranty on your car. Even if you haven't bought one in years! It's a computer so it's not a waste of time and money for them until you engage them in a conversation. So press 1! Join the fun! They'll ask you for the make and model of your car. I'm going to have a 2009 Ferrari Testarossa. Come on. It's a fantasy so you can have whatever you want. Maybe if they call again it will be an Audi TT! I'm assuming they'll ask for my name and address after that. I'm going to be Bill Gates. If they're so stupid they don't figure it out by then, well I'll just have to make it up as I go. This is inspired by the rude person who just hung up on me when I asked them to remove me from their list. Go ahead. Call me back! I dare you! I intend to waste as much of your time and money as possible and convince others to do the same. Muhahahaha And unless this isn't...

So very, very, very tired

Okay, so I just have to say that all viruses and bacteria better stay the hell away from my family for like the rest of the year after the time we've had lately. So first Bryon got a nasty cold that he had for about two weeks. Then Nicky came down with Rotavirus, which he gave to me. Then I got a HORRIBLE cold (that I still kinda have). Then Bryon got the same cold (Still has it). Then Finn got it, and it turned in to croup. I have to say croup is HORRIFICALLY AWFUL! He started coughing right about the time the doctor's office was closing. (of course) And it got progressively worse until bed time. That awful barking croup cough. He was making the horrible, wheezing sound when he was upset, but not all the time. I didn't sleep much at all that night. I spent the entire time making sure he could breath. About 3 in the morning I came really close to taking him to the emergency room, but after some steam in the bathroom he was enough better that I decided to wait it ...

This makes me ANGRY!

Mr. Rogers was a wonderful man, and it didn't hurt children to hear that they are special!!!! All children are special! I completely loved Mr. Rogers, and there is NOTHING wrong with my work ethic! I work my butt off! Fox is disgusting! I hate that channel with a deep and horrible passion! They just say stuff to piss people off! Well they succeeded! Mr. Rogers, where ever you are, just know that you didn't hurt anyone! If children developed a sense of entitlement, it was because their parents felt the need to buy them everything they ever thought they might want the second they wanted it instead of having them earn it or save for it. That's the source of this sense of entitlement. Not Mr. Rogers saying that they were special!

Maury Povich is a Sick Freak

Ok...so I admit that a pickle phobia is pretty ummmmm weird....but who am I to judge, I'm afraid of the dark and being trapped in something underwater. But what kind of a freakin' sadistic nutjob sends someone to a pickle factory when they're afraid of pickles and has them dragged in... Or brings out a plate of them and sticks it in their face. Or tells them just to stop shaking! Phobia's are often unexplainable and downright strange, but taunting someone with it is just cruel!

A Request

Will all of you who haven't finished your Christmas shopping yet please take a moment to do some deep breathing and calm the heck down! Now don't get me wrong I know even if you haven't finished your shopping yet, you might not be one of these people, but if you are let me explain something to you... Your family is going to love you no matter what you give them for Christmas. If they don't then it probably doesn't matter what you give them they are not going to be happy with it so don't stress over it. I understand that if your kiddo wants something desperately you want to get it for them. I'm the same way! So I get that, but cutting off 10 people on the way to the mall to buy it is only going to save you about 10 seconds and the likelihood that that is going to make the difference between your getting that special Elmo doll or not is not very high. So please don't drive like you are Mario Andretti, because you don't have his car or his skills ...

Disgusted...

Okay, so I just started the Couch to 5K training program, because I need to lose ALOT of weight and I really have always secretly wanted to be able to run. I used to have these dreams where I would run and run and never get tired. They were awesome dreams and very unlike the reality of me in gym class when I was in Junior High and High School. And why don't they do something like Couch to 5K with people instead of just telling them they have to run a mile in 10 minutes and throwing them on the field?! I'll bet actually teaching them to run rather than killing their spirit would be a much better method! Anyway...I digress... I'm disgusted because I did a search about starting Couch to 5K and Obesity hoping to find some success stories on their forum and what I found was NOT helpful! I found people ranting about how disgusting fat people are scarfing down their junk food and blah blah blah... Well excuse me for being a-freakin'-live!!! People like this just make me...

Dear Disney...

I just purchased your Wall-E DVD. I haven't even watched it yet. But for the love of all that is good and holy people!!! I know the movie is about what happens if we don't take care of our planet and so the "Earth (and Space) Friendly" packaging might have seemed like a good idea, and I'm all for Earth friendly packaging when appropriate...but a DVD case is not disposable!!! You put it on your shelf and it looks pretty and you don't get rid of it. I had to slaughter my cardboard case to put it in a plastic case that I had left over from something else so that the DVD didn't get all scratched up from the cardboard sleeve you put it in... I hope this was just something for Wall-E and you haven't done away with decent packaging completely, because I put in a preorder last week for the Peter Pan and Tinkerbell set coming out next month and I'm going to be VERY disappointed if it comes in this junk packaging as well. I know the economy is awful, b...

Okay! That's it! I'm done!

Moonlight Canceled I will no longer be watching any new series. That's it. I'm done. I'll watch the couple I watch now, which are Lost and Heroes as I'm not afraid they'll be canceled, but the networks are obviously run by a bunch of *CENSORED* who wouldn't know quality if it came with People's Choice awards and encased in a giant Belgian chocolate bunny! Seriously!!!!!! Why are they so lame????? Why would you cancel something that won a freakin' People's Choice award??? The only thing I can figure is that they want to manipulate what people like instead of making booty loads of money by catering to it. If I were a stockholder of CBS I'd sell and run screaming the other direction. Why is there nothing decent to watch on television? And if something good slips through why the heck do they have to squash it like a bug!? WHY??? Do you not want to make money? Is that the problem? Cause OMG what is wrong with making tons of money by giving ...

Another One Bites the Dust

Why do I bother watching TV? Why??? If it's not a crime drama or vapid comedy it's probably going to get canceled and make me all mad! Jericho is not being picked up by Sci Fi. Apparently Sci Fi is changing it's audience aim, because it had been viewed as a "niche network." Um...hellllooooo?????? Sci Fi is a niche? People watch it expecting to see Science Fiction! Just like people pick up romance novels with the desire to read romance! Funny how that works, isn't it? Blood Ties is also not being brought back, from what I understand. Also there seems to be some waffling as to whether or not Moonlight is coming back next fall. Excuse me... You mean the People's Choice Award winner for Best New Drama? I mean, shouldn't it kind of already have been a given if it's one of the people's favorites? Oh...unless all you care about is that ridiculous rating system that doesn't seem to have any real meaning from what I can tell. At least Eli S...

The Mist: Two Hours of my Life Wasted

!!!POSSIBLE SPOILERS!!! Ugh! We watched The Mist on Demand last night. I have to say. Not only was it completely predictable, but despite it's predictability it was one of those movies that makes you think...Well crap, why the heck did I just waste my time to subject myself to a movie that offers nothing but pure and utter despair? Now I like horror movies. This one wasn't even scary though... Yucky at times, but I wouldn't say scary. Granted, I'm not easily scared, but good grief! I adore stories. Even badly crafted ones. So I'm seldom disappointed with movies or books, but for the love of all that is good and holy I wasted 4 dollars and two hours of Nicky snoozing in bed time on this that I will never get back!!!

Is it just me…

Or does anyone else ever get sick and tired of being the responsible one? The one who says that the elaborate plans are a terrible idea, because such and such a bill has to be paid or such and such a thing be done. And since you're always the party pooper, why would anyone bother to thank you for seeing to it that things are done and children are fed and clothed and bills are paid? And when you give up the things that are important to you to make sure that everyone else has what they need and want, does anyone notice? No! They don't! Because why would they? And why should anyone be proud of you, when no matter how hard you work at everything you do at home, at work, and in your writing you never get a bit of recognition for any of it. And why do you bother anyway? Cause you have to. What choice do you have? The bills have to be paid and the family has to be taken care of and if you don't write occasionally then the rest of it will drive you completely insane. Even if ...

Why the Pyramid Collection can no longer expect my patronage.

Now I have always enjoyed the Pyramid Collection catalog (note that I'm not linking to it cause I'm so not going to encourage anyone to go there) and have purchased from them many times in the past. That relationship is OVER, which is sad because they have a lot of beautiful products that are just my style. This is how it went down… Toward the end of last month, I was reviewing my most recent charges on my credit card to ensure that all was well. I do this about once a week, because…well because I'm obsessive compulsive mostly. So I notice this strange charge… AP9*SHOPPINGESSENTIAL+(Other) I, of course, immediately called my credit card company and asked them what was up. I was informed that it was a subscription, and they gave me the telephone number of the company which was making the withdrawal. I was also told that this was the second month it had happened. Hmm… Why would I not have noticed a payment I didn't authorize? I looked up the previous month's an...
